The Foyer & Reading Room - Frequently Asked Questions
We are here to help you savour every moment of your afternoon tea experience with us. If you have any questions that we haven’t covered in our ‘frequently asked’ list below, please get in touch and we will be very happy to assist you.
1. Reservations
When should I book?
You can reserve a table for afternoon tea up to 90 days in advance with our online reservations opening at midnight.
Is there a waiting list?
Yes, and we would be happy to place you on the list. Please email our reservations team at dining@claridges.co.uk who can tell you more.
What is the dress code?
At Claridge’s we do not operate any dress code, however we find most of our guests choose smart casual dress.
Can I take photos?
To respect the privacy of our guests we kindly ask that you refrain from taking photographs.
Is there wheelchair access?
Yes, we make sure Claridge’s is fully accessible for guests with disabilities. Please contact us at dining@claridges.co.uk ahead of your visit if there is anything in particular we can help with.
Do you cater for specific dietary requirements?
From vegan dishes to gluten-free pâtisserie, vegetarian to nut free, our chefs create menus to suit a wide range of diets. Simply talk to us about this at least 24 hours before you’re due to dine with us.
What can you arrange for special occasions?
For special occasions, we can arrange champagne, large celebration cakes or a designer bouquet for an additional cost. There will be little extras too, from candles in one of your cakes to a message crafted in chocolate – with our compliments. Please email the reservations team at dining@claridges.co.uk to plan the perfect surprise.
2. Vouchers
Do I need to bring my voucher with me on the day?
Our booking system means we do need to see the physical voucher when you arrive.
Can I book online with my voucher code?
We are able to take bookings online using gift vouchers. While making your afternoon tea reservation on our website, simply enter your unique voucher code in the ‘Special requests’ field when selecting the time and date you would like to join us, and we will take care of all the details. Please just be aware that we will still ask for card details and be sure to bring your voucher along on the day of your booking.
Why do I need to provide my card details for the booking?
We ask for card details to secure your booking in case of a late cancellation or no-show. Changes or cancellations made anytime up to 24 hours before your reservation will not be charged. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your reservation will be charged in full.
Can I use my voucher at The Connaught since Claridge’s is fully booked?
Our vouchers are unique to Claridge’s but you can use them for lunch or dinner here instead of afternoon tea, if you prefer.
